Magnificent “RAR” rocking chair by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, 1950s. Today it is a real design icon in the same place as the famous lounge chair, recognized both for its aesthetic and functional aspect. Designed and produced just after “La Chaise” (1948). Since it could not be mass-produced at the time for economic reasons, the couple retained their initial ideas. Fully padded black tinted fiberglass shell with leather covering, metal rod base and birch glides. Rare fiberglass configuration with leather covering. not found on the market. label under the seat which suggests that the chair was produced between 1957 and 1989. Very good condition, it remains a vintage product and may show signs of use. A pair may be available.
